There's nothing quite like being in an elementary school during the first snow in a couple of years. It's a beautiful thing. Now, if only it would stick a little...

"Miss Stephanie! It's SNOWING!!" :)

I'm worse than small children in that respect, these days, as I long for the snows of my youth ...

I grew up in Eastern Washington.

The first five years of my life I lived in Minnesota. My only memories of that time are of falling down a flight of stairs, and being able to walk out the front door and through a tunnel my older brother had dug from the door to the sidewalk without having to duck my head.
After that was almost six years in New Mexico. I think I got a grand total of one snow day the entire time I was there. Then Spain, where it was a drought the entire time, and then Maryland. The hottest summer in Maryland history followed by the "Blizzard of '96," where school was closed for two weeks solid and all the snow I'd missed in the previous 9 years hit in the course of a month. It was a beautiful, beautiful thing.

I lived in Greece for the first four years of my life (Except for 9 months in Maryland).

Then we lived in Pullman (in Eastern Washington) - with Summer and Christmas in Montana.

So I got used to cold. And heat.

Now I live in the most lukewarm climate that I have ever encountered.

It's odd ...
