So, say you were meeting a new person--blind date, new friend, who knows. And you wanted them to have some idea of what kind of person you are, and who you are. But you can't actually tell them in so many words. Instead, you have to give them a box, with a dozen things in it for them to look at/read/listen to/taste/whatever. "What 12 things would you put in the box? And a copy of your journal or a link to your LiveJournal would be the same thing as just telling them directly, yourself, so that's not allowed."
I did something kinda similar to this in high school, but a lot has changed since then. Off the top of my head, this is what I can come up with:
Bubba (the most recent of my stuffed animals, most recent being about 4 years old);
One of my good bubble wands;
A bar of Ghirardelli milk chocolate (if I could bear to part with it);
A picture of my cats;
A copy of Daddy's obituary;
One of my CDs of Andres Segovia;
My lotus flower (either that or my fidget ring);
My autographed copy of Small Gods;
My old red flannel shirt;
My 25-peseta piece on a chain;
When I have time, I'll take a picture and post that, too.
