Books as food

(x-posted lotsa places)

What are your comfort books? The books that you go to when you just want to curl up with something well-known and well-loved.
What do you binge-read? What genres or authors do you just read and read and read in a lump?

A Little Princess and the Anne of Green Gables series, as well as the original Winnie the Pooh.
I've been on a Harry Potter and a Discworld binge lately. Every once in awhile, I'll go on a Mary Higgens Clark binge, as well.

Got some odd ones
The D'Laurus (sp?) Book of Greek Myths - Closest thing I have to a personal Bible is a well-illustrated children's book. This was my introduction to being pagan in a way...

Alcatraz 1934-1963 - A brief history of the time the island in San Francisco Bay was a notorious prison. My favorite section is the escape attempts.

1984, Brave New World, and Frankenstien - Try to read these once a year to ground myself in my culture and where I belong in it. Also, to be glad I am who I am and when and where I am.

An assortment of gaming books from White Wolf, West End Games, Deep 7, and a few other games just to get background info on the universes involved and such.

Textual Poachers - the best damned non-fiction fanboy book there is. Every fan needs to read this, and its honest and through take on fandom.

Finally, I have a lot of music reference books that give timelines, write ups on bands, lyrics, quotes, and other useful triva. My favorites of these is The Encylopedia of Music A-Z, The Billboard Number Ones of the Rock Era (1955-1984), and this book of quotes and lyrics by Duran Duran from 1980-1984.
