(no subject)

So between watching "Bowling for Columbine" last weekend and listening to Arun Ghandi last night, I've had a lot to think about this week. About guns, violence, war, all that wonderfulness that is becoming more pressing in everyday life.

I decided that, little as it may be, I'm going to do something. Besides blowing bubbles, I mean.

I wrote a letter to the NRA.

I'm getting a couple of different people to read it over before I send it out - the last thing I want to do is sound like a militant, angry individual making blanket accusations and demanding their disbandment immediately. Though I can't say the thought doesn't please me. :) No, I wanted to sound reasonably intelligent, and make clear that there are things I don't understand about their organization and what they represent - namely, I don't understand the purpose of guns made specifically to kill people for those who are trying to "defend" themselves. I'm not even getting into how they're hiding behind the Second Amendement - that lead to the whole militant and angry image I'm avoiding.

So, yeah. I wonder if I'll get a response.

One does what one can.
