OK, this? This BITES.

Yes, it's quarter to two in the morning. Yes, I'm awake. No, this was not intentional.

Eric's sick - he's got a pretty bad cold that's been hanging on pretty hard. A cold, y'see, generally involves congestion - and congestion, particularly of the nasal passages, leads to tossing and turning and snoring. I'm a light sleeper, and snoring is the one sound I absolutely can not block out - it will keep me awake.

So, I'm on the couch. Again. I'm also not feeling so great (thanks so much, co-worker S, for showing up to work for the last week hacking up a lung), and the resulting coughing fit actually woke Eric from his sleep and sent him skittering into the living room to see if I was ok. Apparently, I sounded like I was either choking or having a panic attack. No, no no, just hacking up a lung.

We shall attempt this whole "sleep" thing again. If I'm still feeling this crappy in the morning, however, then screw it, I'm calling out. I've got the PTO, and it's a new year. (Oh, who am I kidding? I'd feel way too guilty to call out and I know it. Arg.) At least I've gotten a promise from Eric that he'll go to a doctor, not only for the cold but for the snoring - this has been a fairly constant problem for him, and it can be a sign of so many not-good things that it's worth getting it checked out. My dad used to snore something fierce, worse than Eric by a long shot, to the point that my parents slept in seperate beds most of my growing-up. I'm starting to understand why that was, now, and I HATE it.

So, I'm home. I tried, I swear I did. I made it all the way to the car and halfway to work. The cough (which is more in my chest than my throat, meaning it's a chest cold - yay!) turned into one of those coughs that makes your brain feel like it's rattling in your skull. Cough -> headache -> migraine (complete with light AND sound sensitivity AND nausea! Yay!)

So, yeah. Called my boss, told him the bug that bit S had come for me now (he kinda laughed, but at least he knew what I meant - the girl was hacking up a lung for over a week), dropped Eric at work and drove home, stopping by the pharmacy to pick up cough drops (most foul-tasting things in the world - why is it the ones that taste good rarely do anything?) and double-check my drug interactions. I'd recently changed headache meds, and I wanted to know if that had changed my list of things not to take. It had - I can take most OTC stuff now, and have to avoid anti-depressants. OK then.

Now to go sleepy. Hopefully the kitties will help - they're pretty good about that sort of thing. And soon, soon I tell you, I'll be able to not sound so damned whiny! Well, hopefully.
