This isn't going to be a good day. If anybody really really wants to make me feel better (and has the money and the desire to do so), they can get me tickets for Trans-Siberian Orchestra for Saturday night. (Hey, I know it's a long shot, but I'm not too proud to beg.)

I hate panic attacks. Especially at 7:30 in the morning.

Wish I had the fundage for you.

(Isn't school a half-day for you? Are they somehow MORE stressful?)
Nov. 26th, 2003 09:05 am (UTC)
Nope, it's a full day today. 'Course, it's the last day before a 5-day weekend for the kids (they get Monday off because it's a teacher workday), and they know it. Thus, the squirrellies come out.
Nov. 26th, 2003 09:09 am (UTC)
There is much lameness in that.
Nov. 26th, 2003 09:23 am (UTC)
SO MUCH SQUIRRELLINESS!! They're like a bunch of superballs around here. The fact that half my volunteers didn't show didn't help.

But hey, at least I get some days off, too.
Nov. 26th, 2003 09:55 am (UTC)
They should be destroyed!

For the good of all!
Nov. 26th, 2003 10:42 am (UTC)
I concur. Granted, one of them hurt her back on the way to coming here, so I can't fault her too much. The other just didn't get around to telling me until 5 minutes into her reading time. Arg, I say.
Nov. 26th, 2003 10:57 am (UTC)

Yes. Of course. I was referring to the volunteers. Yep. MmmmHmmmm.
Nov. 26th, 2003 11:12 am (UTC)
I am working off the school's computer, so it would seem...unseemly, I suppose, to refer to the destruction of the 680-odd supercharged superballs bouncing around this school and WHY IN GOD'S NAME CAN'T THE MUSIC TEACHER TEACH THE KIDS A FEW NEW SONGS FOR ONCE?!?!

Ahem. Yes. The volunteers. Of course.
Nov. 26th, 2003 11:17 am (UTC)
I'm glad we see eye-to-eye on this one.
Nov. 26th, 2003 08:16 am (UTC)
I saw them two years ago, with Trisha. She's one of the lab drones that doesn't need to be autoclaved.

Tell you what. If you can be in Madison for their performance here (12/20), I'll get tickets for the two of us.

You tempt me muchly, sir. However, if I can't afford tickets to TSO, I sure as heck can't afford plane tickets to Madison. The curse of working for a non-profit and earning good karma is not earning good money.
Nov. 26th, 2003 09:13 am (UTC)
What? I'm giving you a whole three weeks to save up the money.

If you were me, you'd just grab a sword, and knock over a few convenience stores for the plane fare.
Nov. 26th, 2003 09:21 am (UTC)
You make a compelling point...:)
'Course, those three weeks happen to be when I'm buying shtuff for folks for the whole winter holidays crap. Don't get me wrong, I adore giving people presents, and I love having an excuse to do so, but oy. The money, se fue bye-bye.
Nov. 26th, 2003 09:24 am (UTC)
Understood. Money. Grrr!

I love the kitty picture there, btw. I came dangerously close to getting a cat myself last night, a nice, adult female tortois shell...
Nov. 26th, 2003 09:26 am (UTC)
How would the microdogs react to such a thing?
Nov. 26th, 2003 09:41 am (UTC)
The microdogs were not my idea. As much as I love the little guys, I'm fundamentally a cat person and not a dog person. And, I live alone now, so there are long periods of time when nobody is in the house, which is not good for social animals like dogs.

It hit the time when it was best for me to take the time to find good homes for the boys before I let other stuff get all tangled up in my feelings for them. Scamper went home with his new people two nights ago, and Struedel is meeting some folks this weekend.

After that, I know the best thing for me to do is not have any living things dependent on me for a while. Take the opportunity to rearrange things around the house for a bit. Then find a nice cat to move in with me.

Hence, the "dangerously close" part of last night, knowing that it wasn't the right time to even be stopping by the humane society, 'just to look around a little'.

Don't do it, man! The Humane society is such a dangerous, dangerous place for softies...heck, there are certain PetSmarts I can't spend too much time in because they have kitties up for adoption, and it's so sad to see them behind the bars and miaowing so pathetically...sigh.
Nov. 26th, 2003 11:23 am (UTC)
I hear ya. The challenge, I know, is that I have to remember that I can only take one home, in all fairness. Maybe two, because I've lived with two cats before, and all was good.

Fortunately, the local humane society has got a really good adoption plan, and they haven't had to put any dogs or cats down all year for lack of space, so it's not like I have to figure out which one kitty I rescue from death row or anything.
Nov. 26th, 2003 12:54 pm (UTC)
That's fabulous. The Humane societies around here are wretched as far as space goes - if a cat is considered feral, he's got maybe 24 hours to be adopted.

There was a thing on the news in the last couple of weeks about a local man who had a ton of birdfeeders in his backyard, which naturally attracted the neighborhood cats. He started trapping the cats and taking them to the humane society so they would stop bugging his birds. One of them had lost his collar and was freaking (naturally), so the humane society considered him feral and put him down before the owner had much of a chance to find him. I was screaming at the tv screen that night, believe me.
Nov. 26th, 2003 04:31 pm (UTC)
One of my exes had a neighbor like that.

Wonder if it's the same guy.

I hate people like that.
Nov. 26th, 2003 04:31 pm (UTC)
As I left work, I had to leave myself strict orders to not stop by and see if the cat was still there...

D0rky me has even picked out a better name for her than "Sunflower".

BTW, Trisha the lab drone is thinking of doing TSO again this year, but says I'll have to tolerate her boyfriend, sisters, and dad if I want to get in on the big ticket package with her.
Nov. 26th, 2003 01:39 pm (UTC)
well, I could swing the funding if that's what you want for Christmas... along with chocolate, of course.
Let me know.
Oh, money for bussness on Monday is cool.
I work the library til six and then must pretend - I mean, must focus on my photography.
